Connect Paddle
Paddle is a billing provider for coupons, alongside Stripe and Polar. Each product has one billing connection. Connecting Paddle replaces any previous coupon provider on that listing. Dealpuffin never asks for a key that can charge cards for you, and Paddle is not a way to sign in.
Coupons
- In Paddle, open Developer tools, then Authentication.
- Create an API key named Dealpuffin.
- Turn on discount.read. Leave write permissions off.
- Copy the key. Live keys start with
pdl_live_apikey_. Sandbox keys start withpdl_sdbx_apikey_.
Open the product from Submit a product, choose Paddle, and paste the key in Coupons. Dealpuffin checks that the key can read discounts, encrypts it, and runs the first import. You only see a hint of the key after that.
Only discounts that are active, enabled for checkout, and have a code are imported. Percentage and flat discounts map into Dealpuffin. Per-seat (flat_per_seat) discounts are skipped.
Optional Paddle product (pro_…) or price (pri_…) ids live on that connection. A discount limited to those ids can be published only when the ids overlap.
Use a live key for coupons you want real early adopters to redeem. A sandbox key only talks to Paddle sandbox.
What is stored
The plaintext key is not stored. A connection keeps an encrypted ciphertext, a nonce, a short hint, and the last sync time. Sync does not publish coupons. See Sync and publish.
